Sadly, you can't play LAN compatible games on one machine. I can't really think of a WORMS style game that you could buy - I know that the Star Wars Lego games have a 2-player Co-op on one machine, but you really need two gamepads to enjoy it.

If you don't have two consoles, it really needs to be turn-based.

Like DAT500 says, both star wars lego games are two player - you can even share the keyboard I think. It's a good "all ages" game - lots of humour too.
(if you don't have a working mouse, gampepads, joystick etc.)

Space Invaders anniversary edition (Xplosiv budget game) has one-computer two player option.

Global Diplomacy as an e-mail game. Has anyone ever played it?

Nope. Sounds intriguing. ___ I'm having to put the GBA away - been playing Golden Sun far too late. Found a great website on it but I have to be careful not to read anything which gives the plot away. Me likes maps rpg-home.lunar-net.com/gs-web/index.html

(Played it as a real game, I mean.) I'm new to the e-mail games thing. There's a lot of bitching behind people's backs and working out who you're going to ally with, who you're going to pretend to ally with, who you're going to convince everyone else to kill, etc. ...
Hey, maybe this will improve my people skills!

I can't believe Zelda and the Wii is out in the UK tomorrow! I'm in the wrong country, dagnabbit.

Well, in Game they were demonstrating the Wii - with the Wii-Sports game (even had some rather dumb scrubbers in t-shirts), but there were no Wii's in stock and Zelda was still marked as "coming soon", I get the impression that locally even if you had your name down you wouldn't have got one (of course I know you wouldn't stoop so low as actually using a high street shop ... ) I was impressed with the little feedback speaker in the controller - it seemed to suddenly make sense when I saw it in action.

feedback speaker?

My phrase, not the proper term I'm sure ... a speaker in the controller that provides the player with sound effect feedback - like when you hit a ball will a bat it vibrates and makes a "whack" noise.

Not convinced by the Wii, it looks very gimmicky and the graphics are meant to be pretty bad considering it's meant to be a top of the range console.
I'll stick to playstations

You'll never pull with a playstation. Heheh maybe not but it has to be better than saying "Hey you want to play with my Wii?"

I'll stick to playstations Nintendo have made clear that they'll let Sony and Microsoft compete in the graphic wars - they just want to make great games. We'll be having fun whilst you're still paying off your PS3 mortgage.

Oh, I dunno, even a misunderstanding can lead some interesting situations. My point was the Wii is physical - it could be like showing someone how to play tennis, the closest I've experienced is with the i-toy I guess, and oh yes those awful dance-mats. I'm very tempted to get a second hand gamecube just top play the new Zelda game.

I do want a PS3, but I can wait, I didn't get PS2 until they had been out for a few years and that was really only so I could play Gran Tourismo

I know quite a few people who've already had their 360s replaced due to faulty parts, etc. Bloody hell, I now own a copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Which resides in the wrong country, goddammit!

Yeah I usualy give it a year or two before I get a console, give them time to iron out all the problems and have a decent amount of games out for it

(Barrys getting his 360 this week, to replace his deaded Xbox ... but he said he'd look for my N64 Zelda ) Congrats DAT500, at least it'll give E time to find you some Link PJs (hang on, I want some Link PJs, they must make them ...) dk - posts about stupid americans injuring selves with consoles don't count! ;D (and I'm sure the PS2 i-toy has many such pages) It's funny though. I mean how athletic are people being with these things? Not that I'm backing the evil Japanese kiddy cult of Nintendo (as opposed to the evil Japanese Sony)... not that I get around to owning these things until they are so out of date that shop assistants tut and roll their eyes and tell me to look on Ebay ... not that I lust for games in the meantime and rely on friends to buy them so I can get a glimpse of this heady world of plush graphics ... (sighs) One day I'll be a serious consumer again, one day ...
