Salt and pepper pots? That's fairly sophisticated ;D - blue tack, rubbers, screwed up pieces of paper and broken bits of pencil! "There ya go: Goblin raiding party!"

We also used place mats to create rooms and corridors, sometimes the salt and pepper pots doubled for pillars to big doors as well Fairly sure that tubs of butter where used to represent crypts

Actually that's pretty cool, reminds me of the start of ET when they're all at the kitchen table with notes and a cardboard maze. - I'm suddenly getting a craving to create 3D dungeon scenery ... You've seen my hand made floorplans haven't you? freespace.virgin.net/william.meddis/floorplans/index.htm[edit: hmm the doors look rubbish - I may have to go back to this ...]

Well sometimes, if you move the flagstones and get past the rubble and hopefully it's not hewn into sold rock, you might get to soil or clay - Did you know that in many countries around the the Mediterranean there are underground complexes and house-caves - even whole villages because volcanic rock is easy to carve from? Dungeons! Lost Dwarven Halls!

I knew there were lots of house caves - we saw them in Menorca.
It would be lovely to live in one of those... all these f?cking English tourists gawking at you and your homes.

A what...?

I mispelt it. In archaeology, a troglodyte is any member of a primitive tribe of cave-dwelling people (from the Greek troglodytai, from trogle, "a hole" and dyein, "to enter"). Trog is also modern abuse.
