I think they do have pirate copies of books. It's what copyright is all about. I know a man who publishes books and it's a bit of a legal minefield. There's loads of old books in text format on the net but I guess they can't be pirated because they are legal - open-sourced - belong to everybody. However, everytime a new Harry Potter book comes out people produce and smuggle copies out before the launch date.

Keith Johnstone... its really interesting.. and some of the status games are fun to do with people who dont have a clue what the hell you're doing... like... walking down a pavement or to get peoples attention and stuff... and his theorys on education are interesting...

I think I have that one. There are books with better games in and I think his ideas are pretty dated now, but it's a good starting point for drama workshops, drama in education and rehearsal tips. Also, I don't think there's a teacher in the land who hasn't seen a copy, so you'll never be short of conversation.

Also, I don't think there's a teacher in the land who hasn't seen a copy, so you'll never be short of conversation. of course there's books with better games in... but there are none in the school library... ive lost my library card for the county libraries... and of course its the summer hols... i might ask Sue or Helen if i can borrow some books for 'light reading' during the gigs im gunna do... Helen should... i do agree with his theories on education and that the current education system doesnt work... re: status games... play the pavement game when you're next out and about... it makes you feel all powerful and fuzzy... well... it does for me... coz usually in low status and play low constantly... even in places when i should have high status... i keep playing low.. its just easier for me... mind... i reckon from your character you're a high status character... meep... stop analysing...

Status is good way to explore basic roles and archetypes/stereotypes. I believe postures and positions in the Comedia Francais / Comedia Dell Arte (and most mime) are often based on status and spatial relationships. It can be difficult if you think too much about the exersises because some of them fall apart when you analyse too much. I'm really bad at playing drama games because I question everything and feel manipulated, rather than just going along with stuff. Directors and workshop leaders hate me (the feeling is usually mutual ).

Finished reading Dune. It's very well written. It's a book where nothing much happens but everything has great significance. Very ponderous.
By the bed, currently, is Iain M. Banks, The Algebraist (Sci-Fi)

I guess that saves you from carrying books between houses. (I often cart my hardback D&D rule books back and forth from my mums ... at least it burns the calories ..)

I read deception point today. And half of Digital fortress.
Made me realise that Dan thinymabobs (the da vinci code guy)s books are all really similar. Yet addictive.
Tried to start the holy blood and the holy grail or whatever it is but it's more of non fiction than fiction and it bored me.

Dan thinymabobs (the da vinci code guy)s books are all really similar. Yet addictive. Brown. Yes they all have the same basic plot. Murder, clever guy asked to help, meets guy, escape unrealistic situations in the nick of time and all is fine lol. But yeah I still like them ;D
