Anyone else having trouble or contact with the following Worm/Trojan? Possibly coming through emails?
Comments from Avast log:
"Win32:Tibs ..." "Postcard.exe#609039809" Sign of "Win32:Tibs-AII [Wrm]" has been found in "Incoming email 'Unmatchable Beauty' From: Graham <xhddgr@md.maco.mei.co.jp>, To: [ GK edit email address ] \Greeting Postcard.exe#1222579750" file. Valentines and greetings cards? Is this anything to do with the Love-you virus from a couple of years ago?

Wikipedia says it's "Storm Worm". How exciting!

Not encountered any problems here. Although anyone who opens an .exe file from a strange email should give their computer to the local authorities.

Too right. ;D Avast seems to be doing a thorough job. Although when it shouts "DON'T PANIC!! WE CAUGHT IT!!" one gets a little unnerved. ;D

Whenever I hear or read the word 'Trojan' I still imagine the wooden 'trojan bunny' from The Holy Grail. ;D

I finally worked out how to delete Norton from my system (they don't have an uninstall option - you have to be sneaky and go through the Add/remove programs bit from Start menu) so I hope avast! still works on my computer.

Oh God, you wouldn't believe the number of people we get coming into the project with problems with Norton. People think that they are doing they right thing (and so they should) by shelling out hard cash and they are rewarded with what looks like an untested product (not that I know what the problem is, I just know that there's a lot of them, and yes I'm sure it's very difficult to write these things but at the same time it says something when the free products seem to do a better/system compatible job).

Hmm when I clicked on this topic my virus scanner decided to tell me a trojan was trying to attack me, how ironic!

Norton killed the harddrive on my old laptop. It's massive!! Got Avast on the new one ;D Though worryingly I think I have some sort of direct debit with Norton. How do I stop that?

Cut them off at the source!! Tell your bank you want to stop the direct debit / standing order to Norton - you can do it in person at your bank, or by phone or online, depending on how you usually manage your bank account. Only takes a couple of minutes, less if online. I've done this before with many things - they can't argue it, as you are the only person the bank takes instruction from about your account, and if you ain't paying these companies, they will soon stop supplying the service and leave you alone (as long as you don't actually owe them anything, that is).

I checked online and the DD isn't listed on my account. I think it's when it runs out after a year they'll try and take more money off of me. Hmm!

I was given it free with my computer I think, or my parents bought it for me at the same time (two-three years ago). Raggy told me almost immediately to download avast!. So my subscription to Norton has been expired for a year or more and in that time they've still been scanning for viruses, so I get these bizarre file scans with the end result always being something like: Files scanned 331,203,483 Total viruses found 0 Total spyware found 0 Total Trojans found 0 Total worms found 0 YOU ARE AT RISK. It strikes me that Norton are a little cheeky and are perhaps akin to an insurance or protection racket.
