NSHN had their database crash a while back, right?
I went back a few months after that and created a new account.
All the newbie fun and joy that they have now introduced of not being able to PM/view profiles.

Got a PM from Rob not long after this, saying:
I think that you are 'the' lollipop, if so, drop me an email and you won't have to be a newbie again.

Of course, I can't view his profile to email him. Got the NSHN official email off one of you guys (Thrin, I think) and emailed that.

Ignored.

I don't bother emailing a second time, thinking they get rid of these "newbie" things after about a month anyway.

That was May 2007.

I still can't PM anyone to ask them to change it until they change it, which they won't do until I've PMed them, which I can't do until they've changed it, which they won't do...

It's (obviously) not like I go on there much, but I'd like to be able to.

How the f?ck do I manage it with this stupid Catch 22 situation?

On the subject of NSHN, I ordered a "Hurt Yourself Less Workbook" from them, quite a while ago. They cashed my cheque immediately. But they didn't send the workbook til a couple of months afterwards, and only after I had emailed them several times to ask what had happened to it and point out they had already had my money.

I also pointed out to them that the very nature of what I was buying from them should imply that it was needed, and that to delay supplying my order for so long was a bit sh*t - it's not like I was buying it for 'bedtime reading'....

I can't believe they won't let you view profiles.

Yeah, it says something like "You can't just view anyone's profile!" - even when I'm viewing admin's profile - which would seem to imply that you can't view anyone's profile, despite them making it sound like it's just the particular one you're viewing that's naughty.

GK if you could pass a message on that would be wonderful. Feel free to copy and paste my post or bits of it. Rob or Tania, or tbh anyone on the admin team would do (Rob obviously remembered me so would hopefully be sympathetic)...

I've just tried to look at your profile and it gave me the same response. I've also just sent you a PM, see if you can reply. I'm pretty sure you can't use PMs within the first 30 days only, but I can't find the thread which explains this.

Also, more definitively, I click on New Message and it says
An Error Has Occurred!
You are not allowed to send personal messages.

I don't think the profile thing is temporary - it was like that for me before...
(Interestingly enough, I can view your email/web/etc., just not your profile or PM.)

I remember it used to be a 30 day no-PMs rule, and surely you've been a new member for longer than that?
