Very difficult I like girls names with "ph" (and sometimes "ie"/"ë" ) - no idea why) Sophie Josephine (embarrassed to say I rather like the names Chloë and Zoë ) 1. Try a modern name - like from TV 2. A name you really like 3. A name from your own family / and or traditional name Eek, you've just reminded me of baby names. Friends who've been naming children sometimes settle arguments by providing a middle name. There are loads of names I like from books but they were sound pretentious if you met a person with them, or named a child. I have a friend who has a son called Eden Oscar Zebedee Watts (poor kid). At least when he's older he'll have a choice Boys I find biblical names fairly dull: David, Paul, Tom - but reassuring husband names, I guess. Spanish names can be fun! 1. Paulo 2. Jesus (pronouced "Hes-oo" ;D) 3. Rodrigez Okay ignore them. My friend Toby named one of his children Zachery. Zach makes me think of sci-fi films for some reason. We call him Toby, Toby is a nice name, but he insists that his name is "Tobias" (my friend Dan calls him "Toby-ass" ) Movie actors have the strangest names. I imagine walking in the park shouting the names of my children "Keanu! Raith!" ;D Some names are clearly butch-gay "Bruce" for example, or whimpy like "Edward", "Edwin" and "Ethelbert". Ironic, because these were the names of warrior kings! Adopted by parents who sent kids to upper class public schools I guess. Hey, I've just thought, Alexander is a pretty cool name if a person is into warrior-kings and wants a selection of nicknames. Drutsucalex, have you ever been called Al or Xander or Lex? Roman-Catholic names and saint names are good if a person wants to celebrate a birthday in France - i.e. anniversary day - I'm guessing there's only 365 names to choose from although I think most of them are Marie-Clare, Jean-Paul, Paul-Jean, Clare-Marie etc. God, I'm a nerd. Maybe I have name issues. The number of Williams was neither commonplace nor uncommon until Prince William was born. Now every other loud drunk student is called "Will" - on a Saturday night it can be quite confusing ... I've never taken to being called Bill. Why is B and W interchangeable? Anglo-german phonetics? Its "Gu" in French. My middle name is "Raymond" which is just strange. I could be "Billy-Ray" if I wanted to be. Sorry, babbling. I could be Kaiser Bill! Loads of sites on the net about the meanings of names. Suddenly I'm thinking of the name "Miranda" - does it mean "moon"?

"Blaine" sounds really... camp.
And I remember why!
California Girl Barbie's boyfriend was called Blaine.
Boys: Lex - I like Lex. I know a Lex. Lex sounds cool, but calling a kid Alexander would be annoying, because people could call them Alex or Andy. Which wouldn't be as good. Lex is cool. Diego. Mylem.
Girls: I'm not huge on girls names. Some of them are so gay... Skye Red Raegan
I also like the name Ramsey.
But hey. I hate normal names. I'd be a really nasty parent, all my kids would have bizarre names, like "Window-Wiper".

Desdemona? I'm sure that would be a bad luck name. Girls called Desdemona should avoid Venice, big pillows and Moors.

I bet it was an old greek name - in Homer's Illiad they keep referring to women having cow-eyes - a complement of beauty and value probably. Of course, there's also lots of stuff about cows as gifts and blessings. I guess the closest we have now is "doe-eyes". Rachel means "sheep", I guess it would still be a bit of a curse to be called "cow" ;D
