Maybe the hornets acted as its bodyguards?

^^ Is it Orpheus and Persephone, right? There's a fine retelling of it in one of the Sandman graphic novels, which I recommend. Working my way through Sandman at the moment _________ Any chance of a story for old times' sake?

There's quite a few to choose from. I like Delirium character and Barnabas the dog.

I like Delirium too! I think I've read 8 of them (not including the extra/separate ones) so just two volumes left. *is very good*

Have you read the Kindly Ones? I find the art style a bit strange but it pulls loads of stuff together. Funily enough I liked only parts of the Dreaming, the subplot with the sex and violence in the cafe and the DC comic references seemed a little lame - it's as if the series sort of "matured" as it went along.

Yeah, it started out not great, but got better. I think at the beginning it was anxious of fitting in, whereas once it became a hit in its own right Gaiman felt more relaxed about doing his own thing. I've just looked it up on Wikipedia and the Kindly Ones is volume 9, so that's the one I'll get to read next, I just need to remember to return some read volumes to my friend so that I don't feel guilty about asking for more
