It would certainly do less damage than a glass chess set

Ha ha, yes, and getting people to print onto glass would be a bugger.

Well, it'll be a chess set for people who suddenly need one on a rainy afternoon. They download it off the net, print it out and assemble the card playing pieces. Cheap? Most certainly.

There's nothing like waiting a whole day for a really dumb move. ;D I'm really quite lame at chess, it's an attention thing. "We're playing what?" I bought a book on Viking weaves today, to decorate the edges of the board with. I'm still a bit stumped on how to make easy-assemble, but stable, cardboard playing pieces though. I'm focusing on the board for now.

Confession: I caught Blue Peter today and was transfixed by the construction of a pirate ship out of card, string and dowling. Maybe I'm a frustrated Primary School Art Teacher.

I was not that great at GCSE level - never quite got the presetations together - but I've always been into doodling. I'm definitely having more fun just drawing than doing anything special or formal with it.

If you have two sections to them, the main section, with your piece, with a slit cut into the bottom, and a semi-circular kind of piece with a slit that fits into the slit on the piece, so it makes a cross... Would that work? If you understood what I said

Well, the doodles are supposed to be in the border of the board but I can't decide which style to use.

Is that a request for a self portrait? I try not to copy anything, I get frustrated by talent artistic friends who copy stuff directly from books or the net, of course it's okay to practice ... blah etc. Yep - that's from my gallery deviant art. Thanks.

Printed a prototype black and white board onto card. I've enlarged it so it prints one quarter on each A4 sheet. Snip it up and glue and hey presto... Ah, I guess I need to make some pieces.
