No worries. I have far too many books at the moment and would probably wait to see that one second hand. I've seem to have really got into bargain 2nd hand items of late ...

I also had the thought of, "I'll grab some voltarol gel and chuck it at him next time I see him" but... We need to be able to beam things, like in Star Trek. I know Douglas Adams describes it as a very unpleasant experience, but surely that wouldn't matter if we were just beaming objects rather than people...

I also made purchases - Jo Brand's new novel, a Toby Litt, and a collection of short stories by Ali Smith. Being a customer in Waterstones is much nicer than working there.

My D&D books arrived and I'm pleased to say that the Monster Manual 2 and Player's Handbook 2 are coloured coded on the spine to match their appropriate companions. (Danger Robinsons Danger! Matching up spines can be the start of the curse of the collector-completest) Okay, and I gave in to buying Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition for Dummies ( ) - only just noticed to some shock that it is written by Bill Slavicsek who is one of the authors of the rule books, which begs the question: "Why didn't you write easy-to-understand-rules in the first place?" A conspiracy? - just an advert for D&D proper? But hey, I'm a dummy, after all...

Strictly it's not a character in the normal game but if we were playing the D&D miniatures game I'm sure it could be arranged, although I draw the line at too many sound effects...

I'm in one of my "non-reading" moods...LOL
Although I only started going to the library again in August 2008...and I've been reading loads so who can blame me for losing my whatsit?!

Whatsits come and go.
I bought a copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray for BGF today. Ended up getting into a conversation with the chap in waterstones about how the Vintage Classics are prettier than the Penguin Classics. Then we both confessed that we'd never managed to read The Picture of Dorian Gray. I spent sooo long in that place trying to find something good for him. &To me the whole shop just smells of being ripped off...

I love going in Waterstones, I love bookshops, I just hate the prices! I always buy off Amazon, but it doesn't have the bookshop feel.
Although I don't buy books anymore unless I know i'll read them over and over, I'm an environmentalist after all...why I use the library.

^ I buy all my books second hand unless they're gifts. If I can't find them at work then I get them from Amazon marketplace. Not 'cause I'm an environmentalist, just 'cause I'm cheap.

Ebay purchase: I've bought (for a song) two books which are part of a two player Fighting Fantasy set. Although further research reveals that they lack the box they came in, but I'm still very happy. Way of the Warrior and Way of the Warlock - Fighting Fantasy Clash of Princes www.fightingfantasy.com/material_clash.htm(all I need now is a friend who will play fighting fantasy gamebooks with ...) Incidentally, a certain ward I was visiting had a copy of Fighting Fantasy House of Hell on it's shelves - now theres quality recuperation material.

;D Love is so complicated, why can't it just be as simple as human girl (with goth tendencies) meets undead, but fit, morally confused vampire... I mean they have to be, right? If I was a vamp I'd only attack the local Townies, but I'd still feel a little guilty about it the night after, or am I just stereotyping vampires again? (Sorry, babbling, bourbon finally kicking in... )

This book is human girl who can read peoples' minds meets un-morally confused vamp who's mind she can't hear. It's all very wish-fulfillment. I think the author must've had a very boring life.
