And where do you intend to display / use the animations
For GIFs - tiny small repeatitive animations useful for webpages, Avatars and Message Board fun.
(and mobile phones?)
I import images into JASC Animation Shop - which comes with Paint Shop Pro. (I still use an older version)
Animation Shop can save files in AVI and mpeg formats I believe.
Many art packages have slide-show wizards which which when speeded up make passable animations and often have between frames "transition" effects.
For the gif-animations theres tonnes of freebie stuff - you can prepare the images in another program.
(for example)
For Flash - ah ... I'm still a novice see ... I'm practicing on a "borrowed" copy of Macromedia Flash MX which is in with Macromedia Dreamweaver. But this is a powerful Flash application. For the generation of simple animations there has to be some give-away downloadble programs out there.
For instant animation fun I recommend Stick Man animator!

Until I go blind usually!  (ray charles) Really varies. I'm getting faster - keep being tripped up by strange settings in the software. The scanned hand drawn stuff is the most satisfying though - its more like magic - seeing it come alive - like traditional silly animations. Maybe I should try a whole sequence sometime ... Hope to finish the plug-in robot (above) soon. |

Hey I've been trying to animate this dude:  Everything was going fine until I hit the brutality of trying to save as an AVI file. Basically ani-gifs with large dimensions dont work very well ... and standard AVI files are HUGE. I am at the limits of my software and webspace I reckon.
