When you say "all profit" you can pretty much make the figures up. I have no doubt charities did recieve a large some of money the other night, but overall the gross and net income of the calls for the whole series must be pretty high. It was DAT500 who pointed out to me that when they change the method of voting in some weeks ("vote to evict" vs "vote to keep") it may relate to Ch4 maximising the number of calls. Bookies and betting offices have done this sort of thing for years. Fair enough though, and perhaps it's a good thing to interest people in concepts of people-power and voting which are implicable to general elections. So maybe BB is the ultimate fusion of capitalism and democracy! Maybe it's the American Dream! ;D |
