Lily Allen's version of Somewhere Only We Know, by Keane. It's the one used on the John Lewis xmas ad. Her voice is beautiful, it sounds so innocent.

Get this.
I'm on a psychiatric ward in Leicester, hearing a bipolar guy skip around the place, singing at the top of his voice the theme tune to "Only When I Laugh".
I'm H A P P Y, I'm H A P P Y, I know I am, I'm sure I am, I'm H A P P Y.
You really can't make this stuff up.

Just heard The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, Fairytale of New York, for the first time this year. Some bastard on the ward had it on his radio. I suppose it's time to start thinking about xmas. Mine this year will be very 'different'.

The Bangles - I now own their two first albums on iTunes, cd, as well as on vinyl. Different Light on vinyl was the first album I ever bought myself, saved up for with my own pocket money!
Also this afternoon/evening (GK was visiting) we listened to Leonard Cohen, Simon and Garfunkel, The Bellamy Brothers, etc.
And Pulp - Different Class, as Common People was today voted the Best Britpop Song. I think Sorted for E's and Whizz was about number 8 or 9, too. Ace album.

Damien Rice. Possibly not a good idea right now, but it's so painfully beautiful.
